Periopman,

A membership and events platform for a UK medical society

I built the platform the Manchester Perioperative Medicine Society runs on, with membership and online payments, event registration with member pricing, and talks that only members and delegates can open.

Periopman, Innovating Perioperative Care

The society

Periopman brings together anaesthetists, surgeons, physicians, residents, advanced nurse practitioners, physiotherapists and critical care teams, all working to make surgery safer and recovery better. It began as a small meeting at Central Manchester Hospital in 2013, launched as a national society in 2016, and now runs events accredited by the Royal College of Anaesthetists that regularly fill up.

What they needed

A society like this runs on a few jobs: signing up members and collecting their fees, filling events and taking registrations, and sharing talks and materials with the people who paid for them. The platform had to make each of those jobs easy for busy clinicians, and for the small committee that runs the society alongside their day jobs.

What I built

  • Membership. Three tiers, for allied health professionals, residents, and consultants and SAS doctors, with online sign-up, payment and member accounts.
  • Events. Event pages with the programme, location and a downloadable event pack, and registration with member pricing.
  • Abstracts and media. Abstracts for each meeting, and talks and media that only members and delegates can open after the event.
  • Residents and grants. A home for the resident programme and its representatives, and for travel and project grants.
  • Trust and privacy. Cookie consent, bot protection on every form, and a payment processor, so the society never stores card details.

Where it is now

Periopman 26 ran on the platform in October 2026, and the 2027 resident meeting is next. The committee runs its membership, events and member content in one place.
