Hire a forward deployed engineer

Most AI projects stall between the demo and the daily work. I close that gap. I join your team, learn how the work really gets done, and ship AI into it, inside the systems you already run. Then I hand it over, so your team owns it.

What a forward deployed engineer does

A forward deployed engineer (FDE) is a software engineer who works inside a customer's team instead of behind a product. Palantir made the role famous, and it is now how AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic get their models working inside real businesses.

You get the same thing without hiring a team. One engineer who sits with the people doing the work, writes production code, and stays accountable until it runs without him.

  1. Embed

I join your calls and your tools, and watch the work happen. We pick the jobs where AI saves the most time or money.

  2. Build

I ship something real every week: agents and automations wired into your email, CRM, documents and databases, with checks for anything risky.

  3. Hand over

Your team gets the code, the docs and the know-how. You own all of it, and nothing depends on me to keep running.

Ways to work together

2 weeks

AI workflow sprint

Find the work AI should do, and prove it on your real data.

Teams that know AI should help but not where to start.

  • Interviews and shadowing with the people who do the work
  • A ranked list of AI opportunities with the time and money each one saves
  • A working prototype of the best one, on your real data
  • A build plan with costs, risks and a timeline

4 to 12 weeks

Forward deployed build

Ship AI into production, inside the systems you already run.

Teams with a clear use case, or an AI pilot that never shipped.

  • Embedded with your team, in your tools and your stand-ups
  • AI agents and automations connected to your email, CRM, documents and databases
  • Evals, guardrails and an approval step for anything risky
  • Monitoring and cost tracking from day one
  • Handover docs, training and a recorded walkthrough

Monthly

Ongoing forward deployed engineering

A set number of days each month to add workflows and keep what you have sharp.

Teams that want AI to keep improving after launch.

  • New agents and automations as your team finds more work for them
  • Model upgrades, evals and cost tuning
  • Priority support when something breaks

6 to 16 weeks

Mobile and web apps

An iOS, Android or web app, from first prototype to the store listing.

Founders and teams who need an app, with or without AI inside.

  • Product scoping and design in plain screens, not slides
  • iOS, Android and web apps, plus the backend they need
  • Member areas, payments, bookings and admin tools
  • Store submission, analytics and launch support

What I build

Support and inbox agents
Read, sort and draft replies to customer emails and tickets, and hand the tricky ones to a person.
Document processing
Pull the data out of invoices, forms, contracts and PDFs, check it, and put it where it belongs.
Knowledge assistants
Answer questions from your own documents, policies and past work, with links back to the source.
Sales and CRM automation
Research leads, write first drafts, update records and keep the pipeline honest.
Reporting and analysis
Turn the spreadsheets and dashboards nobody reads into a short weekly summary that someone acts on.
MCP servers and integrations
Connect your internal tools to Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants, safely and with the right permissions.
Member and customer portals
Sign-ups, payments, bookings and member-only content, like the platform behind Periopman.
Mobile and web apps
The app your customers or your team use every day, with AI inside where it helps.

Recent work

Is this a fit?

  • You run a team of 5 to 500 people with work that repeats every day.
  • You have an AI pilot or demo that never made it into daily use.
  • You want AI built into your own systems, not another tool to log in to.
  • You want one accountable engineer, not an agency with a sales team.
  • You need a slide deck about AI strategy and no code.
  • You need a team of 20 engineers for a year.

Questions people ask

What is a forward deployed engineer?

A forward deployed engineer is a software engineer who works inside a customer's team to get technology working in their real day-to-day operations. Instead of handing over advice, an FDE writes and ships the code, connects it to the customer's systems and stays until it works. OpenAI, Anthropic and Palantir all use forward deployed engineers. I offer the same role to companies that don't want to hire a full team.

How is this different from hiring an AI consultant or an agency?

Consultants usually stop at a plan, and agencies put a project manager between you and the people building. I do the discovery and the engineering myself, inside your team, and I ship working software into production every week.

How quickly can you start, and how long until something is live?

Usually within two weeks of our first call. I aim to have the first workflow running on your real data within two to four weeks.

Where are you based, and do you work with teams abroad?

I'm based in India (IST, UTC+5:30) and work remotely with teams worldwide, including the UK, Europe, the US and the Middle East. My working day overlaps with the UK and Europe, and I make time for calls with US teams.

How do you price your work?

The AI workflow sprint is a fixed price. Builds are priced per week, and the ongoing work is a monthly retainer. Tell me what you need and I'll send a clear quote after our first call.

Do you work with our existing tools and stack?

Yes. I build inside the systems you already use, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, your CRM, your databases and your cloud account, rather than adding new tools for your team to learn.

Who owns the code and the AI workflows?

You do. Everything is built in your accounts and repositories, and you keep all the code, prompts, evals and documentation.

How do you handle data privacy and security?

I work inside your accounts with the access you give me, follow your security rules and sign an NDA if you need one. Sensitive steps get an approval step so a person checks the AI's work before it goes out.

Which AI models do you use?

Whichever fits the job and your rules, including Claude, GPT, Gemini and open-weight models. I test the options against your real tasks and pick on quality, cost and where your data is allowed to go.

Do you also build apps without AI?

Yes. I build iOS, Android and web apps, including member portals, booking and payment flows and admin tools.

Have work that AI should be doing?

Tell me about the job and the team that does it today. I'll reply with how I'd approach it and what it would take.
